Art That Cooks!
View
this Collection
This collection focuses quite literally on food preparation. Food fresh from the garden, fresh out of the oven and food served fresh on a plate are all here. There are also plenty of design works featuring hard working tools found in a kitchen. This collection is for the cook, the baker, the artist, or anyone who appreciates the beauty of form and function. You will find rich colors, textures and contrasts both in this collection and in my own kitchen! Food and Painting are the perfect partners!

What's For Lunch?
View
this Collection
The question is almost as old as time: What's For Lunch? Lunch is usually hidden inside crumpled sacks and beat-up boxes, or hidden in the back of the refrigerator. It's waiting down the street, in another room, or in a park. Lunch is well-prepared, thrown together or right out of a vending machine. No one ever seems to know where to go or what to have for lunch. The allusion of mystery is explored in this collection through color, value and contrast; each becoming an essential element in establishing a sense of anticipation and time.

A Baker's Dozen
View
this Collection
I AM AN ARTIST! My style relates to imagery; sometimes it is explored with different media and techniques, sometimes in stylistic consistency. Always, the imagery is important to me. In this series, I've "listened" to my work and watched as the canvases became a collection of loving portraits representing everyday objects and special relationships.
A BAKER'S DOZEN celebrates these relationships and the part they have played in helping me become who I am...an Artist. I love rich colors and high contrasts in every aspect of my life. I love to bake and I love good things to eat. I love to paint and I love good things to see. Food and Painting are the perfect partners.
"Chefs paint, artists eat: They feed each other." Kenneth Bendiner

Fine Art Oil Portraits
View
this Collection
I love painting portraits! Sometimes my portraits are of objects or places. Sometimes they are of people or pets. By capturing the character and personality of everything I paint, I am breathing life into my subject matter. That to me defines the quality and very nature of a great portrait.
I am currently accepting portrait commissions. Please contact me for more information: http://dianmccray.fineartstudioonline.com/contact

Seduction: Embracing an Icon
View
this Collection
After fifty-plus years of making art, I am still seduced by the basics: form, value and contrast, composition and dynamic movement. This series was a valuable experience, reminding me that the process of creating dozens of images of the same object pushes the creative boundaries for just about anyone!
I grew up with apple trees, green apple belly aches, the smell of homemade apple butter sputtering on the stove and my Mom’s Sunday apple pie. Embracing the apple is iconic for both my childhood and womanhood. I am easily seduced by its motivational memories in my series, “Seduction: Embracing an Icon.”
